I was finally able to finish the shabby chic lap quilt today. I don’t know why, but I had it sitting there waiting for binding for over a week. It seems that when I start a new quilt I’m so excited to get it done. But then I get to a point where I have to let it just sit awhile before I finish. Not sure why yet.
This quilt taught me some things. Some things about myself and some things about quilting in general. By nature I excel at mixed media art because I’m spontaneous and I don’t sweat the mistakes. But those skills don’t help in quilting. Quilting requires precise detail. Something I really have to work at. So even though it’s hard for me I accept the challenge, because I am a risk taker. Plus, I love quilts and I love the satisfaction I get from completing it.
So, it’s off to tackle another stack of beautiful, swoon-worthy fabric! Have you ever had a similar situation? I’d love to hear about it.
